It has a been, as I expected, a pretty busy week return to school. I’m writing every day and doing my best to remain productive which is admittedly not that easy. I’ve learned throughout my time in college and graduate school that I’m what you would call easily distracted, and when you have two dogs, a cat, rabbit, kids, husband and endless household chores staying on task is, wow, hard.
I’ve been using yoga as a tool to try and refocus. I’ve been going through The Journey Junkie’s Body Mind Soul Detox which has been tremendously helpful. My mantra, which I stole from Allie (the beautiful yogi behind The Journey Junkie) is disconnect to reconnect. I’m trying to reconnect to my roots as a writer and artist which is going to require disconnecting from a lot of other things I’ve tied myself to (some of which are real issues and some imagined).
This last week I continued to reconnect as an artist to one of my favorite subjects, black rabbits. In particular, my black rabbit Flynn.
One of the best parts of this project was attempting to take photos of Flynn. His best friend is our cat Amelia, who was so excited to see Flynn out and about. She kept crashing our photo shoot and jumping right into the photos, some of which you can see below.
I also continued working on some more Kingdom Hearts themed watercolors. My favorite is the following of Sora, Winnie the Pooh, Piglet and Tigger. I also learned that Kingdom Hearts III is coming out the day after my birthday this year, so happy damn birthday to me!
Now hopefully at some point I’ll get around to updating my Etsy account and make all my new watercolors available for purchase. In the meantime, I’ll be writing endlessly and pushing forward to the finish line that is the end of graduate school.
