As I mentioned last week, this year I’m participating in Fun-A-Day and will be showing what I’m working on in an art show next month. The basic idea is that you create a piece each day in January and then we have a large show of all the artists’ works. Generally, you pick a theme to tie everything together, although it’s not a requirement. I decided that my theme is cats, but not just any cats, cats in space. I’ve been stalking my own cat around the house and doing quick gestural drawings. Here are a few of the finished pieces:
Other than my cat project I’ve been working on a couple of commission pieces and starting a novel for my Masters program. I’m doing my best to make sure nothing ends up on the back burner without burning out myself. It isn’t always an easy balance and I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t stressed out. At this point though it’s about taking things one day at a time. I did have to decide to postpone my crochet idea for a little while, at least until this art show has passed, because it will be a pretty consuming project all on its own.
I’m also trying to decide what the direction of this blog will be in 2017 in an attempt to generate more followers and engagement. So, if you’re one of my few dedicated readers let me know what you’d like to see or what you think would spice up the blog!
