I don’t know which creeps me out more, this new watercolor I’ve created or the idea that there’s only like 11 more weeks left in 2016. I feel like I started this project, of one watercolor per week, just recently. Which, I know, is the cliché thing we all say as another year starts winding down. Seriously though I have no idea where the time went. I am excited to say though that I’m actually, for the first time this entire year, starting to get ahead of schedule when it comes to projects. I’ve also got two art shows ahead of me which is a huge deal! I’d say all in all I’ve had a successful year as an artist thus far and I can’t wait to continue this momentum into 2017. Hopefully I can keep doing one per week, but with wedding planning (Hey guys, I’m getting married July 1st of next year by the way!) who knows what will happen…
This week I created another piece for the Dark Arts Show coming November 4th to Lansdale, PA. I also updated last week’s project to be more interesting and pair better with my ideas for the last two in my Doctor Who Monster collection. First off, I’ll show you the updated “Are you my mummy?” piece:
I added a background, with some texture, darkened his hair in places and made the mask a little more interesting. Originally he felt very blah to me, and I’m much happier with this version. The next watercolor is titled “Silence will fall.” and for those fans of Doctor Who you know exactly what that means….
For those of you who don’t know what that means, this is a portrait of a member of the Silence. On the show the Silence are a religious order who try to kill the Doctor. This watercolor is one of the genetically engineered priests, also know as Silents, who can not only manipulate people, but also cause you to forget everything about them as soon as you look away. For more information you can check out this wikia page. I’m counting this beautiful guy as project number 42 for my year long goal.
Let me know what you think of the updates to the previous watercolor and if you think this Silent is creepy enough in the comments below! Or, as always, connect with me on social media where I’m most active. All social media information can be found on my contact page.
